The original meaning of the word “sconce” is an elevated and protected place. The early Colonial sconce was made of tin or wood and held a single candle. It was an improvement over the candlestick in that it raised the candle to a safer place, and most sconces had reflectors, which provided additional light.
Our sconces cover a range of sizes and styles that we have rarely seen, going from the “country” look to more formal Federal and provincial designs, a selection to satisfy any decorating need.
